Mash Gang launched in late 2020 and have hit the non-alcoholic beer scene with a bang.  Their experimentation is off the charts and they are arguably the most prolific of all breweries of such a young age.  Plus, with great can art, these guys have it all.

Brewed at Northern Monk, Spiritual Journey is the big brother of I am Death Become Destroyer of Worlds (try getting that on a shelf label!), but with a shedload of extra hops at the end.  The pour is excellent with a decent head on a straw coloured, hazy body.  It is reminiscent of Holy Faith and Lervig No Worries.  On the nose it is all tropical with a large hop bill helping to create stone fruit and pineapple aroma, but you don't get a sense that it is sweet.  The taste brings that tropical flavour initially, but gives way to a big tannin-y mouthfeel create by a bucketfull of dry-hopping.

In the non-alc world it is most like the aforementioned Lervig No Worries, Northern Monk Holy Faith, plus Lowtide Pale of Two Cities or a COAST DDH with less sweetness.  However, it is most like a lower ABV full strength beer by Whiplash Brewery, called Northern Lights, which we know it was inspired by.

At the time of launch, all the hype in the non-alc world has been about Athletic Brewing, but this just might be the best beer release this month, or even this year, its that good.
