Belgium is one of the beer capitals of the world, home to many unique and traditional styles of beer, such as the Tripel and Blond.  Most Belgian breweries are fairly traditional but Brussels Beer Project, founded in 2013, aims to break that mould with a very modern style that is multicultural and vibrant.  They were the first brewery in the world to create a beer from leftover bread, which went on to inspire TOAST ale in the UK.

Pico Nova is billed as a West COAST IPA, defined by its extreme bitterness and piney nature, and a style rarely attempted in non-alcoholic beer circles.  Nova pours clear and golden and retains a good head.  The aroma is mainly pine with a touch of citrus too.  On the taste you get the immediate bitterness and the pine comes through strongly.  We didn't get much coconut coming through which are typical of the Sabro hops but others might.  Its a really great beer, especially if you like bitterness, and at a ridiculously low calorie level this is a great beer to have a few of.
